If you're like the majority of users, you'll often install and uninstall software on your computer. It's a natural process as we all want the best software and we make our own decisions on the software we want installed on our machine.
However, the use of software leaves traces, configuration files, temporary data and other information, on your computer. Start surfing the web with multiple web browsers and you'll find that they store their history, downloads and cookie information in places which are always very accessible. Ashampoo WinOptimizer Platinum 2 - our full commercial download, worth around £25 - will enable you to cleanse and optimise your system, by locating and removing many of these old, redundant and temporary files.
It goes much further, too. You can use the Registry software to enhance your Registry, the built-in tools to optimise your copy of Windows and much more. This is a free commercial download and will be available until 21st of October 2006. Grab your software from the download page.
I've downloaded this software and installed it. I would advise anyone to be very careful to check what they sign up for as Ashampoo seem very happy to spam you at the least opportunity. So far my spam has been trying to persuade me to upgrade. I've just been to "unsubscribe" from their rubbish ads, and need to mention the following, once you untick all the crap you don't want, you will be presented with a confirmation page. On the page there is a drop down box that automatically selects that you are happy to receive their newsletter, even if you did untick the newsletter on the previous page.
My advice: Stick to the free version of Registry Mechanic, previously mentioned on DownlodJunkie. It works better and doesn't come with complementary spam. Ashampoo's file cleaning can be done with the in built Windows tools, and the Shared DLL feature is a joke as it put's the onus back on you with no help, even for an experienced user.
If you download, use a dummy account for spam. I use a free account called dummy_account@hotmail.com. I check it on occasion but if it gets spammed, so be it, does not affect my business or personal account.
You have two choices to get great software like Ashampoo - pay full price or put up with some spam.
Thanks Ashampoo and Computeractive for a great product.
It's pretty easy to come off their mailing lists, if you do not want the email info. You're not obliged to receive email to use the software.
Chris.
