« Full commercial app: OrgPlus 6 SBE, worth £15 | Main | Turn a folder in to a virtual drive »
With both Mac OS X and the forthcoming Windows Vista, you're now able to use scalable colourful icons within your operating system, which look as good as tiny icons as they do when they are scaled up on your desktop. You can see the effects of this through the dock on OS X.
There are already a few tools that will enable you to design and create your own Visa-based icons. One of these is the superb Microangelo Toolset 6.10 which makes the process fairly simplistic. If you already have an image - perhaps a company logo - you can import this and turn it in to an icon. You're also able to edit icons supplied with applications, so you can customise the look of your favourite app.
Download Microangelo Toolset 6.10 or, alternatively, check out Axialis IconWorkshop 6.02.
