Use your webcam as a surveillance device with Active WebCam

Screengrab Why do most users own a webcam? I mean, really how many times do you sit in front of your computer and 'chat' live with other users? Some do, many do not. If you're the latter, why not make use of your webcam by using it as a surveillance and security device? For instance, if your computer is facing a window, you could use a webcam to keep an eye out on anyone trying to break in to your apartment. Sure, you're not going to probably see this happening live, but there's a good chance you'll have recorded the pictures and might catch the thief.

Active WebCam 8.4 is a tool that will enable you to use your webcam for monitoring your home, office or other location. It has motion detection support, so your computer will only start to record when it detects someone entering the premises. You can record real-time to the Internet, so you have a remote record of the surveillance. Active WebCam will also notify you when it starts recording, so you can always log on to your homepage to see the recorded data. It will also support more than one webcam.
