Windows Vista really ought to have enabled end-users to produce PDF documents directly from within the operating system, as Mac OS X has supported, since it was first previewed back in 2001. However, with Microsoft's ongoing dispute with Adobe regarding PDF technology, this might not happen any time soon. The best alternative is to install PDF technology that will enable you to create a PDF document from just about any Windows application.
doPDF 5.0.218 is a completely free PDF tool that uses it's own engine to produce PDF documents. Unlike other free PDF tools, it does not require the use of the external Ghostscript tool. Although you probably wouldn't want to use this free PDF tool to produce commercial-level printing, it will enable you to produce screen or print-quality PDF documents which you can pass on to other users or place on your website as a downloadable document. It's so good it's our featured application of the day.
