Replace Windows Explorer using freeCommander 2007.05a

Screengrab Windows Vista ships with a slightly improved version of Windows Explorer, but it hasn't changed dramatically since Windows 95, and that was released over 10 years ago. Surely if innovation was needed, it should be the Explorer interface. For instance, why can't you double-click on the desktop to open an Explorer window, which Directory Opus 9 can manage? Once you've used a Windows Explorer replacement such as Directory Opus, it's really hard to use a computer that relies on the basic Explorer.

freeCommander 2007.05a is a freeware Windows Explorer replacement and it's pretty decent. You can quickly open a dual-pane Explorer window, which will enable you to copy and move files from one area of your hard drive to another. You can handle archives from within Explorer, synchronise files and much more. It's Vista-compatible, so you can use this instead of the standard Explorer lister window.
