What does Vista mean to the average user? Improved security, yes, but it's the visual aspects that seem the most compelling. The new Sidebar, improved Start Menu, Aero UI and more. However, some of these can be emulated within Windows XP. Sure, you're not going to get the advanced technologies, such as the Aero UI, but you can improve the Start Menu, add your own widgets, enhance the application switcher and much more.
ViStart is a Start Menu replacement application for Windows XP users that will offer you a Vista style Start Menu, with the visual appearance and other technologies. This application is part of the Windows X Shrine, which is a collection of various tools, UI enhancers and more, to update old editions of Windows. For instance, there's a whole pack of components to bring XP in line with Vista, visually.
