There are times when you'll be unsure about installing software on your computer. That's understandable. You aren't sure of the software publisher, the source website or whether it may clash with currently installed software. One alternative is to use a virtual environment, such as Microsoft Virtual PC 2007. You could install another copy of Windows within this virtual environment and test the software, without the installation affecting your PC.
Sandboxie 3.0 is the latest version of the self-contained environment for installing and testing software on your computer. It was originally designed for gamers, where you'd install various gaming technologies to play the latest game on your PC. Everything would be contained within the sandbox and, when you remove the game, the other technologies would be removed, too. Effectively this means that you can install software on your machine, test, and decide whether you should install on your host PC.
