When you bought your computer or upgraded your disc burner, you are likely to have kept the burning software that was pre-installed or shipped with the burner. That's fine, if you're happy with that software. However, there are plenty of alternatives. For instance, Ashampoo Burning Studio 6.6 was made available for free and we'd also recommend BurnAware.
With Computeractive issue 263, on-sale now, you can get the full free commercial version of Nero 7 Essentials, which is a basic version of the retail Nero 7. Fully Vista compatible, it will enable you to burn your discs quickly and easily and is primarily designed around disc burning, rather than media manipulation which you find in full burning suites.
