Some of the personalisation features within Windows seem a little limited; sure you can change your desktop background, colour scheme and tweak various display features, but it’s still fairly restricted. However, there are various third party applications available that offer further customisation, such as an icon editor. A decent icon editor enables you to edit current desktop icons, or even create your own, completely original one from scratch.
Sib Icon Editor 4 makes it easy for you to create your own icons for all copies of Windows, including Vista. This was once for commercial use, it’s now available for free and still boasts high quality icon production, including 32-bit colour and transparency.
