Install Windows and the first thing you'll do is route out all your favourite software, latest drivers and other data. Snag is, once you start installing the applications, then your drive will become fragmented, your Registry will end up cluttered and your system will start more slowly, due to the various startup applications. Short of re-installing Windows, the most obvious solution would be to install an application that will automatically keep your system in-check and optimised.
System Mechanic 8 is one of the best tweaking, optimisation and system maintenance tools. It enables you to defrag your hard drive, optimise your Registry, remove unnecessary startup applications and cleanse your system from unnecessary files. However, although you can manually go through the various options, the new
System Mechanic 8 will also sit in the background keeping your system tuned whilst you use your PC. It won't affect your work, however.
The new
System Mechanic 8 is much improved. The previous version had some stability issues under Vista, but this version is rock solid stable. It's been running on our Vista production system for a couple of weeks now and we're impressed.
