If you are spending time abroad and using your mobile to communicate is proving to be costly, staying in-touch via the Internet may be the only option. The simplest option is to use an instant messaging service but this can pose its own problems. Firstly, friends and family may all use different mail clients and secondly, depending on where you are, Internet access may be limited. Ideally a cross network messenger would be useful, but you would have to install the software and this may not be possible if, for example you are using an Internet café.
Miranda Portable 0.7.8 is a portable, cross-network instant messaging client. It's a small application requiring minimal memory so you can take it on the road using a USB stick for use on any computer. As it's cross platform, you can chat with anyone using other IM services.
