Maybe someone can correct us here, but it seems the recent rush to develop a decent free email client seems to have diminished somewhat? The Mozilla-based Thunderbird is only receiving small and minor bug or security fixes, whilst Thunderbird 3 is way off a final release. Eudora development was cancelled and has been incorporated in to Mozilla development. Of course, there are others, and you could just use Windows Live Mail or the web-based Google Mail, which would enable you to access your email from any browser, from any location.
The Bat! 4.0.38 Professional is an email client that's been around for ages. It's a powerful application that's also available as a free Home edition. Sadly the Home edition is rather limited as it doesn't even ship with an inline spell checker, which is essential for writing email. However, the Bat! ships with a whole host of features, including many pre-designed templates which will make your email look rather professional.
