« Automatically backup important data with SyncBack SE | Main | Is it time to move across to the latest Internet Explorer v8? »
We've got to the stage with computers where we can use a three-year-old PC for our day-to-day work without having to worry about having to upgrade to use the latest software. Only a few years ago it seemed to be case where even the most recent PC was out-of-date after 6 months and needed to be upgraded. However, some of the latest security suites have forced us to regress. Why? As these apps check everything we do with our PC, so it causes system slowdown. Files are checking before you save them to your computer, when you attempt to open from your desktop and, if they are within an archive, when you open the archive. Everything is checked, all the time.AVG seems to be playing a game with its free customers. I'm never sure from their website download and offers which come with Updates whether or not I am being 'fooled' into buying their paid-for version either now or at some time in the future. That is why I have come to the Computeractive website, hoping it is clear from there that I only wish to download the free version upgrade.
I agree with all Adrian Hart has written - I went round and round AVG's site but left it dissatisfied and rather suspicious. Unfortunately, I haven't yet found any help on this website - still hoping, though.
I cant install AVG Free - is this just to make me buy the 'pro' version I wonder
