Rather than backing up an entire drive and, if your drive is huge, this can take some time, the more popular option is to backup only your most important files and documents. For example, I make sure my fonts are regularly backed up as they are difficult to replace and, quite frankly, if I have to re-create web buttons years in the future, I can never remember the original font. I also backup key system files before moving to a new system. However, there are few free tools that will backup your files to multiple locations (local or remote, such as your server) and also support incremental backup.
GFI Backup 2009 Home Edition is completely free software designed to backup or restore individual files in multiple locations. It supports some of the more advanced functions you wouldn't find in regular free backup software, including differential and incremental backup, so you don't have to keep backing up the same files every time you schedule a backup routine.
