There was a stage where lazy web designers would code up their web pages to get the most from Internet Explorer, knowing that this was the primary browser used by the majority of Internet users. Developers can't afford to do this these days, but there are still some sites that just don't quite look right in Firefox. Some do not even allow you to logon to their site (for 'security reasons') using anything but Internet Explorer.
IE View 1.4.2 is a simple add-on for Firefox that enables you to open a web link from within a Firefox rendered web page within Internet Explorer. However, you can also open stored bookmarks within Internet Explorer. So, although you may use Firefox for the majority of your web browser, if there's a site (such as your bank) that requires Internet Explorer, then you can use this add-on to open it within IE.
