Design and build your own website with WYSIWYG Web Builder

medium.gifCreating your own website can seem daunting when you have little understanding of the applications and languages needed to create one, and many people and small businesses turn to professionals to create a site for them. However, paying programmers to build a site from the ground up can soon become costly once you factor in hosting and maintenance. Although a site built professionally will be well made, it may not be worth investing in if you don't have the funds and it may be Worthing trying a simple WYSIWYG web builder to create your own site.

WYSIWYG Web Builder 6.1.1 enables users to drag and drop text images and other content into an interface like a desktop publisher. Easily create sites from scratch or by using a supplied templates, ActiveX code and flash media files. It's a good tool for those who have little understanding or knowledge with regards to web building but still helps to produce professional looking results.

Keep your system optimised using the latest CCleaner 2.23

CCleaner-grab.gifUse your computer to browse the Internet, download files and test new software and you'll be surprised to find all sorts of miscellaneous and unwanted data left across your computer. Some of these files can cause your system to start more slowly and it's worth keeping your system cleansed as it will speed up the machine, plus will free up space. CCleaner is one of the best free system cleansing tools that will clear a lot of the junk from your computer. It will even scan and optimise your Registry.

CCleaner 2.23 is now available and contains a host of new features and minor updates. For example, support for cleansing your Opera 10 browsing history has been added, as well as improvements for cleaning 64-bit PCs and the Registry. There's also a portable version which you can take on the road and cleanse temporary machines.

Try the latest version of Opera 10 RC, before the official launch

junky-opera.gifWe're looking forward to the new version of Opera. It's a superb, fast and well-designed web browser that makes using the Internet a breeze. The only downside for us is that you can't synchronise your bookmarks and other information, through a third-party synchronisation tool such as Xmarks, which supports Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and now Google Chrome ( in beta). No Opera support yet, which is a shame. Would have been good to use Opera at home, with either the standard IE or Firefox browser at work.

Opera 10 RC is now available and ships with a host of new features. It still doesn't contain the Unite features which are being kept separate within the beta Unite browser, which is available from Opera Labs.

Note that Opera 10 is officially released on the 1st of September. We'll write a more substantial blog entry then, detailing the new features.

Protect your PC with this free security suite

comodo-grab.gifIf your new computer shipped with basic security software, you may be unaware that it is still susceptible to a whole host of online threats. When you get your new machine up and running, it may be worth investing in a solid all-in-one security package that will protect your computer from viruses as well as identify potential threats and be capable of removing such items. Compatibility is also a benefit of using an all-in-one package.

Comodo Internet Security 3.11 is a freeware suite made up of different security utilities which are designed to provide complete protection for your computer. This security suite provides solid protection against almost anything the average user may encounter online and if you require further protection, there is also a professional version available.

Free Paragon Drive Backup 9 Professional promo ends tonight!

junky-paragondbbox.gifThe last of our four Paragon Software full commercial promotions, Drive Backup 9 Professional, worth £16, ends at midnight tonight, BST (British Summer Time).

Drive Backup 9 Professional
is all you need to make sure you keep your drive and/or partitions backed up and secure. Better still, it's all done through incremental backup, so you don't need to worry about backing up your entire drive each time you schedule a backup. Only new and updated data will be backed up. If you suffer from a system problem in the future, you can restore your data back to your drive or even a completely different drive, which makes moving data to a new computer, relatively easy.

Paragon Drive Backup 9 Professional
, worth £16, is worth having even if you don't intend to backup your drive any time soon. Remember that once the promotion ends tonight, you won't be able to download this free full software any time soon. Note that the version we have is the 32-bit edition.

Create your own tracks with this powerful music editor and mixer

reaper-grab.gifMost new computers are woeful enough to record and edit audio if equipped with the right kind of software, software that would have once been far too expensive for the average person to justify. Industry standard applications such as Logic and Cubase will obviously produce fantastic results in the right hands but you may be surprised to learn that there are some very able and inexpensive solutions available.

REAPER 3.103 is a relatively inexpensive audio editor and mixer that ships with all the usual features found in more expensive editors including MIDI support, time stretching and pitch correction. It's also compatible with all the main standards for plug in effects and virtual instruments including VST and VSTi.

Watch satellite television via your PC with ProgDVB

progdvb-grab.gifFor those of us in the UK, all analogue television broadcasts will be switched off by 2012 and be superseded by an array of new, high definition services. Gradually though, many f us are beginning to use their computers to access new and more interesting programs. Why not use your PC to play to tune in and play MPEG-2 video streams? You could even record them to your hard drive and watch them at a later date.

ProgDVB 6.12.1
is a freeware application that enables you to record programs, display full screen TV and even decode HD streams. Although it's a good tool for watching satellite and streaming TV on your PC, setup can be confusing for newcomers.

Download online videos for your own library with ClipFisher

clipfisher-grab.gifWith numerous online portals offering film trailers, movie clips and music videos we inevitably come across videos which we'd like to keep and browse offline. Unfortunately many of these online portals offer a view-only policy, which is frustrating as this prevents the video from being downloaded.

Ashampoo ClipFisher 1.21
makes it possible for you to obtain such online videos. Simply copy the video's current http:// address from the web browser and paste it into Ashampoo ClipFisher will then begin downloading the video directly on to your hard drive. The application also enables users to obtain view-only videos from portals such as YouTube and GoogleVideo, enabling you to create your own video libraries.

View a list of connected USB devices with USBDeview

usbdeview-grab.pngDeleting old data to make space for newer files and folders is no longer necessary with the use of external drives. This is because external hard drives are much more affordable than they once were. There are numerous benefits to storing everything you need, but that's not to say there aren't any downsides. Keeping track of externally connected devices such as printers and scanners can be difficult enough, without the risk of accidentally disconnecting a storage device containing important files and folders.

USBDeview 1.42 is a useful tool that lists all USB devices connected to your PC, including previously used devices. The application will display information on connected hardware such as device names and descriptions and even serial numbers for mass storage devices.

Try this alternative iPod manager

floola.gifAs well as being the world's largest online music store, iTunes is the most commercially successful music managing applications ever produced, for both Mac and PC. The success of iTunes is mostly down to its usability, but that's not to say it doesn't have its faults. One of the most frustrating thing about iTunes is that it does not enable you to perform any tasks directly from your iPod, without using and iTunes equipped machine, which can be completely impractical if on the move, you maybe travelling abroad and have no access to a computer, let alone one equipped with iTunes.

Floola 5.3
is a standalone, cross-platform application that can be launched directly from your iPod and requires no installation. It supports all commonly used features such as artwork, smart playlists and podcasts. You can also use it to convert audio or video, so that you can copy almost any file to your iPod and even enables you to add YouTube and MySpace videos by entering the URL.

Transfer file across the Internet with FileZilla

filezilla-grab.gifGreater connection speeds are one of many benefits of using  broadband, not to mention reliability. Although FTP clients are no longer necessary since the development of modern web browsers, they are still useful in certain circumstances and especially if you regularly download files. They are also an efficient way of quickly uploading data.

FileZilla 3.2.7.1 is an FTP client that enables you to transfer files to and from the Internet with ease. By using the client alongside a good broadband connection, it's possible to administer a remote site or take advantage of any free homepage space you may have to upload files more efficiently.

Paragon Drive Backup 9 Professional, worth £16, for free!

junky-paragondbbox.gifAs many of us are buying our media online, we may choose to store these audio tracks on a partition on our drive. Problem is that if our computer suffers from a major system failure, it's not always possible to go back to the site to download the purchased tracks. The solution is to keep your drive or a drive partition backed up to a safe area, so if you do suffer from drive failure or you simply can't access your PC, you can quickly restore the entire drive or partition back to the replacement. Indeed, by backing up your drive, you can quickly restore the content to a new machine, making it easy to move around your most important content.

Paragon Drive Backup 9 Professional
, worth £16, is our current full application. You can download this drive backup and restore tool between today and 28th of August 2009 - that's this Friday. Remember you need to get a serial code and you can do this within the installer. There are no restrictions, either, apart from the regular one-license per email address.

Automate repetitive tasks with VistaTask

medium.gifIt can be incredibly tedious for those who perform similar computer-based tasks day-in, day-out. The worse thing is that although these tasks may not be difficult or particularly time consuming, they are still necessary and have to be done. If you find yourself working in this way, it may be worth checking out a trial version of one of the many automation tools available to see if it could help ease your workload.

VistaTask 7.61
enables you to control certain aspects of your computer without programming any code. A potentially ideal solution for those performing repetitive tasks or other administration tasks, so it could save you time as well as increase productivity without the user having to learn any programming code.

VistaTask 7.61 link.

Manage and track tasks with TaskCoach

taskcoach-grab.gifWhen undertaking a project it's important to identify and outline each individual job that's required for completion. There are a number of different task and/or project management tools available that can be used to stay organised and on top of your workload, ranging from simple freeware tools to larger more expensive alternatives. Such applications may help you manage a number of different areas of a project, from assigning tasks to costs involved with completing a project.

Task Coach 0.74.90 enables users to manage both individual and multiple tasks and is cross-platform so it can be used with Windows, Mac OS and Linux. Unfortunately though, the application only supports single users but the developer intends to migrate the tool so that this information can be shared.

Disable problematic start-up apps with Autoruns

Autorunsgrab.gifYou may think that having a PC that's equipped with applications for every conceivable task may be a good idea, but the reality is that installing lots of different programs could eventually cause problems as they solve. When you install any application, data is submitted to your Windows Registry which may lead to applications automatically starting as your machine boots which not only makes booting slower, but once an application is uninstalled those problematic Registry entries may remain.

Autoruns 9.53
is a utility designed so that a user can obtain a list of any applications that are launched as your PC boots. This list can then be used to identify and locate any files that are related to installed applications, enabling you to disable any problematic items.

Autoruns 9.53 link.

Try this cross-network instant messenger

miranda-grab.gifNo matter how cheap phone calls from both landlines and mobiles have become, it's still far more costly than instant messaging, especially if you have friends and family abroad. Communicating in this way enables you to talk to people on a one-to-one basis as well as in groups. However, one downside is that because there are so many different messaging clients available it's pretty unlikely that all your friends and family will be using the same one.

Miranda 0.8.4
enables you to communicate across almost anyone, irrespective of IM network. All status icons are included for other networks and your contacts are consolidated onto a single list. Unfortunately the application doesn't support all advanced features that ship with some IM tools, but it's a small price to pay for the convenience of using a single application.

Miranda 0.8.4 link.

Tweak your display hardware with PowerStrip

powerstrip-grab.gifMost decent graphics cards will ship with a number of display options. These settings are often pre-configured on the card installed on your machine, providing basic and usually pretty limited adjustments. These basic options may not be ideal for getting the most from your display setting and you may not even be able to manually adjust certain areas. So what do you do if you wish to change your current monitor or connect additional monitors?

PowerStrip 3.86
enables you to tweak a huge number of different display options using over five hundred controls and settings. You can easily create a multi-monitor set-up and manage all settings. The application supports numerous graphic cards and all popular chipset vendors, so it should work with most machines.

Paragon Partition Manager 9.5 Pro promo ends at midnight

Thumbnail image for junky-paragonpm.jpgThe full current download promotion has exceeded certain expectations, particularly as 3x as many people have linked directly to the download on the server, rather than our website. All good things must come to an end, however. The Paragon Partition Manager 9.5 Professional promotion will end at midnight, although it will be on the server through the early hours of the 11th of August, to allow people who couldn't get it in time, to download.

Paragon Partition Manager 9.5 Professional, worth $79.95, went live last Friday and is up online until midnight. Once the promotion has ended, it won't be going back online and will be replaced with the regular trial version.

World Exclusive Free Download: Paragon Partition Manager 9.5 Pro (64-bit)

Thumbnail image for junky-pm.gifYesterday we uploaded the world exclusive Paragon Partition Manager 9.5 Professional (32-bit) to the fastest commercial server, only for various sites around the net to ignore our request to link directly and, well, link directly to the download on our server. Result? Both server overload and 3x as many 'direct requests' to the link than coming through our V3.co.uk site. Frustrating for all. However, this download is proving extremely popular and we've now got the 64-bit version of Paragon Partition Manager 9.5 Pro, for all those users with the 64-bit Windows XP or Vista (not that Paragon Partition Manager 10 is the first version to officially support Windows 7).

Paragon Partition Manager 9.5 Professional (64-bit)
is our current world exclusive full download, worth £42 (approx $79.95). This superb multi-function partition manager will enable you to resize an existing partition, merge one or more partitions, copy a partition to a new drive, delete a redundant partition and much more.

Remember that this download is licensed from Paragon Software. Do not link directly to the download on our server (as we'll move it over the weekend) and do not upload it to a file-sharing website. It will be available to download until midnight of the 10th of August, BST.

World Exclusive Free Download: Paragon Partition Manager 9.5 Professional

junky-pm.gifGo out and buy a brand new computer and the first thing you'll want to do is partition the existing drive. That can be tricky, when the manufacturer has pre-installed Windows and other software. There might be more than a few partitions, some of which you'd like to delete or merge in to one larger partition. Either way, the software required to do this won't have shipped with Windows and it's wise to keep some partitioning software in your collection of applications, in case you want to re-partition at a later date. Buy an external hard drive and you may want to partition this. You may need to give your system partition more space, in the future. The options are endless.

Paragon Partition Manager 9.5 Professional is our current world exclusive full commercial download, worth £42 (or $79.95). This download has absolutely no restrictions - you can use it on your workstation or home PC - and it's the Professional edition, rather than the more basic Personal edition. This is a must have download and is only available between 7th of August and 10th of August 2009 (BST - British Summer Time).

Important: note that we expect our server to be rather busy, so be patient. This software is not freeware. it is licensed by Incisive Media from Paragon Software. Do not mirror the promotion on your server nor link directly to the download on our server. Link to the promotional page.

Synchronise files and folders with ease

easy2sync-grab.gifThroughout an average PCs lifespan you will accumulate an array of folders and folders, many of which you may want to keep or transfer to a new machine. In recent years, the amount of data we are now able to store has increased dramatically, which can make it more difficult to move it from one drive to another. Not only is the volume of data an issue, there are many other variables to consider when transferring data, especially if your new machine ships with an updated operating system.

Easy2Sync 1.35
assists users when transferring data. The application has a number of useful applications and is especially useful when moving files and folders from one machine to another, this could be a new PC or from a home computer to a work machine.

Look out for our world exclusive free full download on Friday

junky-v3.gifOur previous Paragon NTFS for Mac 6.5 full commercial download went offline, as planned, at midnight GMT. However, came in to the office this morning to find hoards of emails from people asking why were have been advertising a full software download, which is now offline. That's because we clearly stated here and on the download article that it was a limited run promotion and would be taken offline on the 4th of August!

We're now busy preparing for an even bigger world exclusive full application download, this Friday, which will go live at 00.15am on Friday 7th of August. It will be online until 23.59am of Monday 10th of August. This is 23.59am BST (British Summer Time). Our contract and license to offer these downloads is limited to four days. However, the bonus is that we have them online for four days (rather than 24 hours), plus we give you no restriction over usage, either.

So, keep an eye on www.v3.co.uk/downloads on Friday!

Last day to download the free exclusive Paragon NTFS for Mac 6.5

junky-paragonntfs.jpgIf you want a stylish PC, there's no reason why you couldn't buy any Intel-based Mac, install the supplied Bootcamp (part of OS X) and run Windows natively on this Mac. You can switch back to OS X at any time, if you also like to use OS X. Problem is, if all your work, documents and other files are stored on your Windows partition, accessing and working with them through OS X isn't so straightforward. OS X can access and read NTFS-formatted partitions or drives, but can't write to them.

We're giving away the full version of Paragon NTFS for Mac 6.5 which will be available until until later this evening (GMT!). This simple small tool enables you to read and write to any NTFS-formatted partition or external drive, through OS X. Get it quickly before we take the download offline.
